Description
Bacchus Woodline 4 Premium Handmade Red Burst Flame Maple
 Why we love it
This Woodline 4 Premium was completely handmade at Deviser’s Aska factory with extreme attention to detail and premium wood selection, hardware, and electronics. While this is a well-seasoned player grade instrument, it’s still in great condition in all the places that count most. Bacchus handmade instruments are a joy to play, with a comfortable and fast neck, easy action, and fabulous tone. This bass is near-vintage age, but still has tons of mojo and many years of great performance left. Woodline 4’s with the old-style Bacchus bridge in good condition are becoming harder to find.
Condition
This bass is in Very Good overall condition with normal signs of use scattered around the body. The back of the body shows signs of buckle rash. There are a few scattered dents and scuffs on the back shown in photos primarily near the lower horn and control cavity. There are a couple of small dents on the upper horn. There are a couple small dings on the front of the lower bout roughly near the bridge. Most signs of wear are on the back of the instrument. There is a small dent on the lower part of the back of the neck between frets 5 and 6. There are no noticeable signs the electronics were modified. The neck binding, block inlays, frets, and nut are all still in excellent condition. Frets show minor signs of wear and have a lot of life left. The neck shows no signs of warping or waviness. The truss rod is very smooth and in good working order with plenty of adjustment left. Pickup foam has been replaced to ensure correct pickup height and adjustability. New D’Addario EXL 45-105 strings are installed with string height set to medium-low (2.25mm 4th) with no significant buzzing. A nicely padded Fender FB610 gig bag will be included.
Overview
The Woodline is based on a Fender Jazz-style design but features a slightly smaller and more contoured body. Beautiful details abound with beautifully executed pearloid binding around the maple neck and pearloid block inlays on the fretboard. The binding is still firmly in place with no gaps or cracks noted. The modern C-profile neck is slim and fast without feeling cramped. Width at the nut is 1.5 inches (38mm) and 2.2 inches (55.8mm) at the 12th fret. Neck depth at the 1st fret depth is .87 in (22.1mm) and .95 in (24mm) at the 12th fret. The real bone nut and fretwork are masterfully executed as would be expected on a premium build. A lovely jet black slab of Ebony is used for the fretboard. The red lacquer  finish highlights the striking grain of the highly figured flame maple top. High quality hardware is used throughout for tuners, bridge, and electronics. This bass weighs in at 9.5 pounds.
Electronics and Tone
The Woodline 4/E features a Bartolini XTCT preamp and great sounding Bacchus original Alnico 5 jazz pickups. Tone from this bass is focused, punchy, and articulate. Midrange and treble are detailed, smooth and complex without sounding overly processed. This bass has an active/passive switch. Controls consist of master volume, pickup balance, and EQ controls for bass and treble. EQ pots do not have center detents and are boost only.
The Bacchus Woodline 4 Premium is an easy playing, confidence inspiring instrument that will make you want to keep playing. It will arrive ready to rock out of the box. It has been inspected and set up, including cleaning, string replacement, truss rod adjustment, intonation, and string height adjustment upon arrival here at Professor Nigel’s.
