Fender FSR MIJ Traditional II Late 60s Jazz Bass Ice Blue Metallic
Why we like it
Distilled essence of old school Jazz Bass growly mids, brightness, and fat, warm bass in a beautifully crafted new school cool Ice Blue Metallic made in Japan build. A very distinct spec even among FSR models with matching headstock and select details reminiscent of late 1960s Jazz Basses. We are big fans of Fender MIJ Traditional series instruments as they represent incredible value for money with impeccable build quality and superb tone.

Overview
This specification was made as a 2024 Fender Special Run limited to a single Japanese retailer that sold out quickly. Distinctly modeled after late1960s Jazz Basses, this bass features a basswood body with Ice Blue Metallic gloss polyester finish and White Pearloid 3-ply pickguard. Atop the vintage natural finish 2-piece maple neck is an incredible matching headstock. The fingerboard is a thick slab of lovely classically grained with 20 expertly finished Vintage frets. The neck sports a Jazz Bass familiar 1.5-inch (38.1mm) nut width and U-profile that provides a bit of shoulder while still feeling quick and comfortable. Additional distinct features include crème fingerboard binding, block inlays, and lollipop vintage-style tuners. The specs of this instrument lend it a Goldilocks quality of “just right” in terms of feel and tone that’ll leave you wanting to keep digging in.
Electronics and Tone
The original Vintage-Style Single-Coil Jazz Bass pickups do a great job of conjuring up our favorite aspects of early 1960s Jazz Bass tone. The neck pickup brings just enough warmth and rich bass while maintaining punch and clarity. The bridge pickup helps dish out lovely midrange growl and defined, snappy treble. Controls are traditional neck volume, bridge volume, and tone.
