Description
MASTERTONE HA-1 Overdrive/Fuzz/Distortion
Professor’s Notes
Just what is the HA-1? Overdrive? Distortion? Fuzz? Don’t ask too many questions. Sometimes, it’s best just to enjoy happy accidents. Lovely bite and focus. Gets along well with a multitude of pickup types and amps. This is a keeper.
Condition
This effects pedal is in Excellent (near mint) condition, with few signs of prior use that do not impact sound or functionality. The original instructions and box are included. Thoroughly cleaned and tested with a compatible power supply and 9v battery.
Manufacturer Description
During the development of the previous EOD (Emotional Overdrive) OXBLOOD, we made seven prototypes and had many people, including several professional guitarists, try them out. There was one that didn’t end up being adopted but got a good response from three professional guitarists.
This prototype was designed as an overdrive with a fuzz and distortion nuance, with a completely different circuit and parts from the EOD. Although it was very well received by those who tried it, it wasn’t adopted in the original plan, but we decided to release it to the world as a happy accident (HA-1).
We paid particular attention to appearance and used a Majola paint that changes from metallic blue to metallic purple depending on the viewing angle and the way the light hits it.
The controls are Volume, Tone, and Drive from the left. The switch is a true bypass.
Seigo Shishikura:
“My first impression was that it was a really good high-gain overdrive! It’s the best for me! I want one (lol)”
Shinji Taguchi:
“It felt like a blackface twin turned up to full power! I got hooked and played it!”
Yoshiaki Imahori:
“The picking response is also pretty good. It has a wide range, and as long as I’m playing a Stratocaster, I like this one better than the EOD.”
MASTERTONE is a team brand of three companies: TONE BLUE is in charge of planning and sales, Blackberry JAM is in charge of design and production, and SAITO COLOUR WORKS is in charge of the case painting.
