Overview
If you are not familiar, Edwards is an ESP Japan-only cost performance brand. Edwards instruments are made in Japan by ESP and have exceptional build quality. This includes immaculate fit and finish, a real bone nut, Gotoh hardware, and Seymour Duncan pickups. These basses sport a majority of the fit, finish, and performance of ESP high end/custom shop at about 1/3 of the price.
With creamcicle orange and cream color scheme as a to match it’s sweet and dreamy tone, this bass is ready to rock. It is rare to find this model and color in this good condition. It features a vintage approved combo of alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fretboard. The three-piece hard maple neck sports a lovely vintage tint finish to show off interesting grain with a seriously generous slab of rosewood to top it off. The neck profile leans toward chunky-C and gives you plenty to take hold of as you dig in on the strings. This bass features high quality hardware, such as Gotoh GB707E tuners and an ESP custom bridge.
Electronics and Tone
The Seymour Duncan pickups have a midrange focused sound perfect for rock. In the neck position is an SPB-2 Hot P-Bass pickup. This pickup has a custom high output coil winding for increased low-end response, fuller sound, and aggressive attack. The neck pickup is the SJB-2 Hot J-Bass pickup which uses the classic jazz tone foundation but adds some punch. This pickup is voiced a little lower than a traditional jazz, with a hotter output and fuller low end, giving you boom without too much top end sizzle. The hand ground alnico 5 rod magnets, and custom coil wind deliver a warmer, fatter Jazz Bass tone with a lower midrange growl. These pickups are great for rock and heavier musical styles. However, it’s more than capable of providing thump, roundness, and warmth should the gig call for it. Check out the linked YouTube video to see what this bass is capable of.
