What is the difference between your cable models (Looking Glass, Dauntless and Siren)?
The short answer is as follows:
- The Looking Glass: Most transparent, least filtering of high-mids and treble for passive pickups (ultra-low capacitance). Best for longer cable runs due to the ultra-low capacitance. Thickest, least flexible cable. Currently has the most options for sleeving and cable color options.
- The Dauntless: Transparent, but will have some filtering of high-mids and treble for passive pickups (low capacitance). This subtle “EQ” curve is complementary to electric guitar and bass. Same thickness as the Siren, but more flexible due to spiral outer shield vs braided outer shield.
- The Siren: Most filtering of high-mids and treble for passive pickups, but still technically low capacitance cable. This “EQ” curve is very complementary to electric guitar and bass and more noticeable in back-to-back comparisons with our other cables. Same thickness as the Dauntless, but less flexible due to having a braided outer shield vs spiral outer shield.
All models are made using excellent, professional quality cable that have been used in recording studios and for live sound and touring around the world. The best way to determine your favorite, or if you want to use them interchangeably for different sonic flavors, is to try them all with your equipment.
Can I try before I buy?
If you are in the Phoenix metro area, contact us and we can make this happen. For those not in Phoenix, we are working on offering a “trial pack” at reduced cost to allow you to experiment with the different cables on your gear prior to making a decision. Which cable is best?
Many excellent cables are currently on the market and there is a big emphasis on “low capacitance” cable. But which options are best? Is lower capacitance always better? The short answer is, “it depends”.
What works best for you depends on your guitar, your amp, your desired tone. However, swapping cables can have a profound effect on tone. For this reason, all cables sold here have an explanation of how they impact sound based on experience with testing. We are also working on audio samples to help you hear the difference. How long will it take to get my order?
As most of our Professor Nigel’s cables are handmade to order, it may take up to 10 business days to process and ship your order depending on current demand. We do our best to stay fully stocked with components for all of our models as well as noting inventory shortages in our shop. We also keep a limited number of our most popular models assembled in stock in order to expedite turnaround time.
My cable broke! Help! What do I do?
Our cables are intended to be lifetime cables, we want to keep them in service! If your cable is in need of repair due to damage incurred in use, contact us to arrange return shipping and repair.
My order arrived damaged or not functioning. Help! What do I do?

In the case of an item or order arriving damaged, please contact the shipping provider immediately to initiate a claim. Also contact us and we will be happy to assist if possible. Take pictures of the damaged packaging immediately prior to opening. If you notice your order is damaged once it’s been removed from the package, do not use it. Take more photos as these may be necessary for the claim.
If your item or order arrived non-functional, contact us immediately and we will assist with return or exchange of the item.
Where are your products made?
All Professor Nigel’s brand products are made in the USA. We make an effort to note on all product pages the country of origin for cable and other components. Our cables are hand assembled in Phoenix.

What if I don’t like it?
Satisfied customers are important to us. We want you to be completely happy with your purchase. If you are not satisfied for any reason, merchandise in the original, unopened manufacturer’s package that is undamaged may be returned within 14 business days of receipt.
