Description
Bacchus Craft BLS-JR/R Arctic White
Why we love it
The 2019 Bacchus Craft BLS-JR is a fantastic interpretation of the iconic Gibson Les Paul Special. As with most Bacchus made in Japan guitars, this guitar is sublime to play and has incredible tone. The made in Japan Craft series and most of the regular production Handmade series have been discontinued by Bacchus, so these instruments in great condition are becoming rarer to find by the day but still offer tons of value for performance.
Condition
This guitar is in Excellent (near mint) condition with few signs of prior use. This guitar was purchased as new old stock from a Japanese retailer, and still has plastic film on the pickguard and rear cavity covers. There are minor fine surface scratches, mostly on the rear of the body, likely from demo play in the showroom. There are a few fine surface scratches on the front of the headstock only visible from certain angles. On the back of the neck, there is a spot that looks like an ink transfer stain. It’s not easy to see in normal light, but we’ve enhanced the contrast of the photo to ensure you are able to see it prior to purchase. The electronics are in good condition and function properly. Frets show minimal signs of wear (95%+ remaining). The neck shows no signs of warping or waviness. The truss rod is smooth and in good working order with plenty of adjustment left. The original tools, certificate of authenticity, and a nice Bacchus gig bag are included. This guitar has a fresh set D’Addario EXL110 strings installed and has been setup with medium action, optimal relief, and dialed in intonation. The BLS-JR weighs in at 8.44 pounds
Overview
Bacchus Craft Series guitars were created in response to customer demand for premium quality guitars at a lower price point. Craft Series instruments are all made by hand by a small team in Japan to an incredible standard. The BLS-JR features a lightweight mahogany body and neck with beautifully applied Arctic White paint and thin gloss polyurethane coating. The 24.75-inch scale mahogany neck is shaped with a comfortable and easy playing thin 60s profile, 1.69-inch wide real bone nut, and feels like a familiar old friend. The neck has a and is topped with a nicely figured 12-inch radius Indian rosewood fretboard, 22 meticulously finished medium jumbo frets, white pearloid position markers, and vintage white binding. High-quality Bacchus Original compensated wraparound bridge and GOTOH/SD90-05MA vintage style tuners with white buttons complete the minimal hardware compliment and ensure excellent tuning stability and energy transfer into the body.
Electronics and Tone
Plug this guitar in to your favorite tube amp and the tone is superb. It feels alive and responsive in your hands, which translates in spades to great sounds for strummed chords or picked lead parts. Full, clear, and sweet-sounding Bacchus P-90 pickups paired with Vitamin Q 0.022uF capacitors dish out fat, warm bass, screaming mids, and brilliant chimey top end. The result is dynamic, and tonally complex output suitable for clean, overdriven, and high-gain distortion sounds.
