Bacchus Craft G-STUDIO ASH DK Black Oil

Why we love it

The Bacchus Craft G-STUDIO is a fantastic contemporary interpretation of the SSH Strat-style guitar. Just like their Handmade series counterparts, Craft series instruments were hand crafted using premium tonewoods and exceptional attention to detail in Japan, but to a slightly lower price point. Craftsmanship, materials, and hardware are well thought out and compete well above their price point. The made in Japan Craft series and most of the regular production Handmade series have been discontinued, so these instruments in great condition are becoming rarer to find by the day. This near mint example offers great tone and a sublime playing experience for a reasonable price.

Condition

This guitar is in Excellent (very near mint) condition with few signs of prior use. There are a few tiny marks scattered over the front and back of the guitar normal for an oil finish instrument that has seen some playing time. They are all very difficult to spot and were not able to be featured well in photos but needed to be mentioned for full disclosure of the condition and are the only reason this guitar is not listed as Mint condition. The electronics are in good condition and function properly. Frets show little sign of wear. The neck shows no signs of warping or waviness. The truss rod is buttery smooth and in good working order with plenty of adjustment left. There are no noticeable signs of modification.  The tremolo arm, tools, and a Bacchus gig bag are included. This guitar weighs 7.5 pounds.

Overview

Bacchus Craft Series guitars were created in response to customer demand for premium quality guitars at a lower price point. The G-Studio is the lastest expression of Strat-style guitars that were a key part of Bacchus Guitars original founding in the 1990’s.  Produced in Deviser’s Aska workshop, it has all the functionality of a Handmade Series G-Studio, with incredible polish to its looks and superb performance, the Craft Series G-Studio Ash DK provides great value for your money and tonal versatility to tackle any genre as might be necessary for a studio musician (thus the name, G-Studio). Premium Ash is used for the body, providing balanced tone and beautiful grain pattern to show through the satin black oil finish.  The body is slightly smaller than standard Strat-style models, with a sleek contemporary look. The 25.5-inch scale maple neck offers fantastic playability with its C-shaped profile and satin finish. Bacchus necks are always a highlight and this one is no exception. Maple is used for the 22 fret, 12 inch radius fingerboard contributing to a well-balanced, punchy, and articulate tonewood combo. Fretwork is outstanding as typical of Deviser-made instruments. High quality Gotoh tuners and tremolo bridge are used for hardware, providing excellent tuning stability.

Electronics and Tone

Full, clear, and sweet-sounding Bacchus Original SCC-1 Alnico V pickups are used for the neck and center positions. A hotter output Bacchus MRH-1 Alnico V humbucker is used in the bridge position. The overall package makes it easy to adapt to a variety of classic and modern tones as intended by the “studio flexibility” design brief, providing detailed, dynamic, and tonally complex output suitable for clean, overdriven, and high-gain distortion sounds.
