Description

Allow me to introduce you to the Bacchus Global SWL4-ASH RSM. Just like every made in Japan Bacchus instrument I’ve tried, the Global series instruments show exceptional attention to detail, craftsmanship, materials, and hardware that compete well above their price point. This bass comes from the Bacchus Global line made in Indonesia at Bacchus’ own factory. These are largely handmade under the watchful eye of Japanese master luthiers. There is a personality and vibe that is both familiar and distinctly Bacchus. This bass weighs in at 9.45 pounds.

Not available as part of the normal Bacchus catalog, this model was a part of a special run for a Japanese music store, making it rare and very unusual to find in North America. It is packed with features such as a custom spec black and white matte urethane finish and rosewood fingerboard (normal catalog basses have maple).

Bacchus works “neck magic” across its whole range, and this instrument is no exception. The sleek roasted flame maple neck shows a beautiful flame pattern down the entire length and sports a thick slab of rosewood. It is a joy to play with its modern C profile and 1.5 in (38mm) nut width. The nut is made from TUSQ. The neck on this instrument is top notch for this price point, bettering more expensive instruments. Just like the rest of the instrument, the nickel silver frets show almost no signs of use.

The matte open-pore finish on the ash body sports a clear pickguard and is very smooth and shows no signs of wear or abuse. The Bacchus JB pickups provide full, vintage inspired tone with a hint of modern sizzle. This bass has a thick and punchy tone without getting murky, has lovely resonance unplugged, and is very responsive to touch as you play.

This bass is in near new condition overall. The only flaw is a very small chip just under the nut on the 4th string side (pictured). The neck shows no signs of warping or waviness, and the frets show few signs of wear and have plenty of life left. Truss rod operates as it should with plenty of adjustment room in both directions. All controls function as they should with no obvious signs of modification. This bass is fantastic to enjoy just as it is but also offers a lot of room to grow if you want to upgrade electronics around the class leading build quality for the neck and body.

Let us know if you have any setup or string preferences and we will be happy to accommodate if possible prior to shipping the bass. Aria Pro II 45-105 roundwound strings are currently installed. This bass is set up bass for medium-low action (around 2mm E). The neck is adjusted for optimal relief, pickup height has been set, and intonation is dialed-in up and down the neck. This bass includes a good condition padded Bacchus gig bag.

Ask any questions you may have prior to purchase; we will be happy to provide any additional details available.  To make your purchase experience as enjoyable as possible, Prof. Nigel’s never sells any instruments we wouldn’t be proud to own. A great deal of effort and care are put into selection, cleaning, setup, photography, description, packing, and shipping every instrument. We want to ensure you receive the instrument as expected, ready to enjoy for years to come. Please allow 2-3 days for packing and shipping after placing an order.
