Available now, this 2023 Fender Japan Hybrid II Jazz Bass in Vintage Natural finish is a real stunner for the eyes, ears, and hands. This bass looks like it just arrived from the factory, and includes the original gig bag, tools, info sticker, Fender Japan warranty card, and info booklet. This bass weighs in at a comfortable 8.73 pounds.
The Hybrid II is a model made only for the Japanese domestic market and a few other international territories. It is unusual to find this model and color combo in North America, especially in such pristine condition. The Hybrid II retains a vintage look while incorporating modern specifications to provide a versatile instrument that can suit any player or genre of music. The Hybrid II Jazz Bass is equipped with newly designed Hybrid II Custom Voiced Single Coil pickups.
The body is alder and incorporates a sustain block under the vintage-style bridge. The vintage natural finish looks stunning over lovely alder grain with the tortoiseshell pickguard providing a bold splash of color. The satin finish maple neck feels comfortable, quick, and familiar in hand, using a modern C-shape with 9.5-inch radius maple fingerboard and narrow-tall frets. It is nicely appointed with a bone nut and open vintage-style tuners. This bass is noticeably resonant and sounds great even unplugged. Once connected to an amp, the Hybrid II pickups do a great job providing classic jazz bass punch and midrange growl, while having a little modern edge and articulation. The only sign of prior use on this bass are some very fine surface scratches on the pickguard near the neck pickup.
It has been inspected and set up, including cleaning, string replacement, truss rod adjustment, intonation, and string height adjustment upon arrival. This bass has been set up with medium-low action with no buzzing. There is minimal to no fret wear, and the truss rod has plenty of adjustment room.
