Why we love it

Made in Japan active Jazz basses are a bit unusual to find. This 2020 Limited release version features exceptional build quality, alder body, US-made pickups, great 2-band EQ, fantastic playability, and attractive color combo.  This premium bass likely won’t be coming around again for a while, snag it while you can!

Condition

This bass is in Excellent (very close to Mint) condition, with only a few very minor blemishes that do not impact playability or functionality. The frets are in great condition with few signs of wear and plenty of life left. The truss rod is in good working order with adjustability in both directions. The neck is straight and in good condition. The electronics function properly and do not appear to have been modified.

Overview

The Fender made in Japan Active Jazz features an alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard. Arctic White paint is covered by a gloss polyester finish and sports a 4-ply Tortoiseshell pickguard. The 34-inch scale maple neck is a comfortable and quick medium depth U-shape with silky smooth satin finish. A healthy slab of rosewood is used for the 9.5-inch radius fretboard, which sports 20 medium jumbo frets and white dot position markers. Real bone is used for the 1.5 inch (38mm) standard Jazz bass width nut. Neck depth at the 1st fret is .83” and 1.0” at the 12th fret.

Fender US-made Vintage Jazz Bass pickups are utilized in conjunction with a 2-band Fender Bass and Treble EQ (boost only). The result is detailed, punchy, and growly J-bass tone with extra beef and sizzle when you need it. The 4-Saddle HiMass Vintage bridge allows for top load or through body stringing and helps provide plenty of punch and sustain.

This bass weighs 9 pounds and feels well balanced in use. This bass has been set up with D’Addario EXL 45-100 strings with medium action and dialed-in intonation.  A brand new Fender FB610 gig bag will be included.
