Why we like it

Distilled essence of old school split-coil P-Bass warmth, punch, and weight in a beautifully crafted new school pretty in pink made in Japan build. This color combo was a 2023 Fender Special Run, limited to a single Japanese retailer, and very difficult to find. We suspect this is the last one that was available from this production run.

Condition

This bass is in Mint (as new) condition. It was purchased new and has no signs of prior use. The truss rod is in good working order with adjustability in both directions. The neck is straight with no signs of warping or waviness. The electronics are in perfect working order.

This bass weighs in at a featherweight 7.5 pounds and feels well balanced in use. This bass will include the original Fender gig bag, warranty card, and tools. It has been set up with D’Addario EXL 45-105 strings with dialed-in intonation and medium (2.5mm) action.

Overview

Modeled after a 1962 P-Bass, this bass features a basswood body with Shell Pink finish and mint 3-ply pickguard. It is equipped with a vintage natural finish 2-piece maple neck with superbly grained thick slab rosewood fingerboard. The neck feels great in hand, with a 1.65-inch (42mm) nut width and U profile that manages to be chunky without feeling clunky and slow. If an instrument can feel confidence inspiring, this one is right there.

Electronics and Tone

The original Vintage-Style Split Single-Coil Precision Bass pickup has a wide tonal range and is compatible with a wide range of genres. It is round without being muddy and warm without being dull and lifeless and fully reproduces the charm of the Precision Bass. The tone is thick, sweet, and punchy. Controls are traditional master volume and tone.
