Description

This is a limited-edition signature version of the Providence BD-1 Bass Drive Preamp for bassist Hinata Hidekazu from bands such as Straightener and Nothing’s Carved In Stone. This is a limited production signature edition totaling 230 units. It comes with a special numbered certificate and the back cover of the main unit is signed by Hinata Hidekazu himself. Hi-Definition Bass Sound

Carefully selected parts and a circuit mechanism designed for bass provide low noise and wide expressiveness. The internal operating voltage is boosted to 21V to ensure a high dynamic range. The input and output jacks use gold-plated contacts making it resistant to oxidation which minimizes sound quality changes and deterioration over time due to oxidation. This is especially effective in the case of weak high impedance signals (i.e. from the output of a passive instrument).

Equipped with Vitalizer B

Vitalizer B is used in the input stage. Vitalizer is a type of buffer circuit that converts high impedance signals, which are easily affected by external factors such as sound quality deterioration and noise, into low impedance signals that are less susceptible to such influences. It is also adjusted to avoid becoming too Hi-Fi, taking into account the original characteristics of the instrument. Vitalizer B is an optimized version of this Vitalizer for the low range of bass guitars and other instruments.

The Vitalizer B allows the BDI-1 to output a tight, clear sound even in the low range where the contours are easily blurred. This signal is also output to the VZ THRU out jack, so it can be connected to other pedals or tuners as a low-impedance parallel out.

MIX Control

By mixing the DRIVE sound and the clean sound adjusted by EQ, the nuances of distortion can be changed. Even when the distortion is strong, you can add clean sound to add definition to the bass line, or conversely, add distortion to the clean sound to give it a thick sound, allowing for a wide range of settings. The DRIVE distortion is designed to be mixed with clean sound, resulting in a distortion sound with little muddiness in the low range.

EQ section

The EQ section is based on the circuit of the Providence DBS-1 bass stomp preamp, and in addition to Treble/Mid/Bass, it has a new Presence to make it 4Band, allowing for even wider settings. Presence controls harmonic components and allows you to sharpen the contours of the sound.

Equipped with a DI OUT balanced output, it can flexibly support settings with PA for live performances and recording. It also has a ground lift SW, so you can immediately deal with any ground loop noise caused by wiring with other devices. You can select the mode when the effect of the left foot switch is OFF by operating the BYPASS/MUTE mode switching mini switch. In BYPASS mode, the direct sound via the Vitalizer B is output. In MUTE mode, the sound is stopped, so that you can avoid making unintentional sounds while replacing the bass body or tuning it.
