Bacchus Craft G-STUDIO ASH – DK Black Oil (MIJ)

Professor's Notes
The Craft Series may sit below Bacchus Handmade, but don’t be fooled — this is a Nagano-built G-Studio with the same woods-first philosophy and tight fretwork Deviser is known for. Ash, maple, Alnico V pickups, and an ultra-comfortable neck give it a tone and feel you normally only find in far more expensive MIJ Strats. With Craft and most Handmade production now discontinued, clean examples like this are getting harder to find. This one plays beautifully and punches far above its weight.

Condition
This G-Studio is in Excellent (very near mint) condition with only a handful of tiny marks visible on close inspection — typical for an oil-finish instrument that’s seen light play. Nothing breaks the aesthetic or feel. Electronics are clean and fully functional. Frets show minimal wear. The neck is straight and stable with no waves or twists. The truss rod is smooth, responsive, and has plenty of adjustment. No noticeable modifications. Includes the tremolo arm, tools, and Bacchus gig bag. Actual weight: 7.5 lbs.

Overview
Built in Deviser’s Aska workshop, the G-Studio Ash DK represents the pinnacle of what the Craft Series offered: premium ash body with a sleek satin black oil finish, slightly downsized body contour for improved comfort, a fast satin-finished maple neck with a comfortable C profile, exceptional Japanese fretwork, and reliable Gotoh hardware. Created as a more accessible counterpart to the Bacchus Handmade Series, the Craft line retained the same design DNA and Japanese workmanship. With the Craft Series now discontinued, well-preserved examples like this have become increasingly sought-after for players wanting MIJ quality without boutique pricing.

Electronics & Tone
Two SCC-1 Alnico V single coils deliver clear, expressive tones in the neck and middle positions, while the MRH-1 Alnico V bridge humbucker provides dynamic output and excellent drive characteristics. The combination produces a wide, studio-ready palette: articulate cleans, chime and sparkle, classic rock crunch, and modern high-gain performance. A versatile, session-friendly instrument that excels across genres.
