A distinctive, highly articulate overdrive with strong dynamic response and plenty of bite. The Gooseberry has an open, well-defined voice, sparkling upper mids, and a tight but full low end that preserves picking nuance beautifully.

Condition
This effects pedal is in Excellent condition with minor signs of prior use. This unit has been thoroughly cleaned and tested with a compatible power supply and 9v battery. All functions are operational with no issues. The original box and included paperwork/accessories are not included.

Description
The Blackberry JAM Gooseberry is a handmade Japanese overdrive designed around dynamic response, clarity, and natural interaction with the player.

Although it shares some conceptual lineage with the original Blackberry JAM Blackberry overdrive, the Gooseberry has a noticeably different voice in practice. The Blackberry is more traditionally mid-forward and familiar in its overdrive character, while the Gooseberry sounds more open and defined, with greater emphasis on articulation, upper-mid presence, and picking dynamics.

The Gooseberry responds especially well to touch. Lighter picking retains clarity and sparkle, while harder attack brings out more bite and saturation without collapsing the sound into compression. Chords remain well separated, and single notes retain a strong sense of attack and immediacy.

Its EQ balance is a major strength. The upper mids are present enough to help the guitar project, but the overall response remains spacious rather than congested. The high end has plenty of sparkle, while the bass stays tight, full, and controlled.

The gain range is broad and musically useful, moving from cleaner boost and low-gain textures into a fuller medium-gain overdrive while maintaining definition throughout.
