Boss DC-3 Digital Dimension – Blue Label Made in Japan

Condition

This effects pedal is in Excellent condition. There are a few minor scratches and signs of use on the exterior. The serial number indicates a June 1988 build date. We installed a new rubber screw grommet. This unit has been thoroughly cleaned and tested with 9v battery and compatible power supply.  All functions are operational. The original box and instructions are not included.

Professor’s Notes

The DC-3 is the anti-chorus chorus — dimension without wobble, width without “effect.” It doesn’t draw circles around your guitar; it quietly finishes it, like the record version of your tone just stepped out of the speakers. If you’ve ever loved the idea of modulation but hated hearing modulation, this is your forever pedal. Another Dimension, another Dimension…

Professor’s Tips

  • Think “always-on polish,” not a special moment. The DC-3 shines when it’s set and forgotten — your sound just feels wider, smoother, more expensive.
  • Use the push-buttons like presets. Start with the lowest-intensity mode and move up only if you still can’t feel it. The best DC-3 settings often sound like “nothing”… until you turn it off.
  • Stereo is the whole story. If you can, run it in stereo (two amps, or stereo return/interface). The DC-3’s magic is the spread, not the swirl.
  • Placement:
    • After drives for the most natural “dimension” (keeps the gain texture intact, just wider).
    • Before drives if you want a slightly more animated, chewy response — still subtle, just more movement.
  • Pairing tip: it’s incredible before delay/reverb for big, clean ambient parts — your repeats and verbs inherit the width.
  • If you want it to read as “chorus,” you’re using the wrong pedal. If you want it to read as “wow, that guitar sounds great,” you’re using it correctly.
  • Quick sanity check: set your favorite mode, play a part you know well, then bypass it. If the bypass feels smaller/flatter, you’ve nailed it.
