Condition

This effects pedal is rated as Excellent condition. This unit has been thoroughly cleaned and tested with 9v battery and compatible power supply. All functions are operational. There are minor signs of use and age such as small chips, marks and scuffs on the exterior. The crumbling original rubber screw gasket has been replaced. The serial number dates to April 1984. The original packaging and instructions are not included.

Professor’s Notes

The DD-2 is the original stompbox digital delay. Not quite “hi-fi clean” in the modern sense, which is exactly why it works. The repeats have a gentle grain and a little softness around the edges, so they sit behind the note instead of fighting it. It’s that rare kind of delay that makes a part feel finished without making you think about delay at all.

Professor’s Tips

• The “sits just right” setting: E. Level ~9–10 o’clock, F. Back ~9 o’clock, then set D. Time for a short repeat/slap. You’ll hear depth and dimension, not a bunch of extra notes.
• Keep it musical, not messy: if the repeats start stepping on your picking, turn down E. Level before you touch Feedback. One quiet repeat is often the whole trick.
• Edge-of-breakup heaven: run it after your main drive—the DD-2’s slightly textured repeats stay clear without turning brittle, and they don’t smear when the amp is working.
• Indie rhythm glue: use 1–2 repeats and time it so the repeat lands between your strums. It thickens the pocket without announcing itself.
• Lead lift without more dirt: leave your gain alone and nudge E. Level up a hair—instant “bigger” without pushing the front end harder.
• If the Professor can’t keep a DD-2 on the board: an early DD-3 is the closest equivalent for the same job—simple, dependable repeats that behave in real songs.
