A bass fuzz that doesn’t ask you to sacrifice the song. The Bass Big Muff Pi 2 gives you thick, record-ready grind while keeping your fundamentals and attack intact. When you want it to misbehave, it happily goes from “supporting layer” to catastrophic wall of fuzz in one knob turn.

Description

The Bass Big Muff Pi 2 is EHX’s modern bass-focused take on the Muff idea, built for players who want size and definition. The key is the Blend knob, which lets you mix clean bass back in with the fuzz so you can keep the note while adding hair, chew, and presence. There’s also a Bass Boost switch for extra low-end weight in the fuzz voice when you want the floor to move. Drawing on a long-lost dual op-amp gain design from original Big Muff designer Bob Myer, Bass Big Muff 2 is tweaked to ensure it's a purpose-built bass tool retaining clear definition and solid bass fundamentals.

Professor’s Tips

  • PN’s “under-the-track” setting: Sustain 9–11 o’clock, Tone 11–1 o’clock, Volume to unity, Blend 8-10 o’clock. You get the fuzz layer that helps the bass sit and cut without losing the core note.
  • Use Bass Boost when you’ve brightened Tone for clarity but want the lows to stay authoritative underneath.
  • For “just a moment” accents, the BBMP2 supports momentary switching (press-and-hold behavior).
