A rare Tokai-made Fender Japan JB-75 Jazz Bass reissue in Old Lake Placid Blue with matching headstock, alder body, rosewood fretboard, bound neck, and block inlays — professionally serviced and upgraded with Fender Vintage ’66 Jazz Bass pickups for a refined, record-ready Fender Jazz Bass voice.
Condition
Excellent overall condition with minor signs of prior wear. There is minor normal patina on the tuning keys, control cavity cover, and pickup covers. The body has scattered fine scratches/pick marks consistent with normal light use. There is minor impact damage on the player side of the lower bout, which is stable and not especially noticeable in normal viewing or playing position. There are a couple very small dings around the perimeter of the body. The neck is straight, the truss rod functions properly, and the frets show minimal wear with plenty of life remaining. Electronics function properly.
This bass has been professionally serviced and setup for excellent playability. Work performed includes installation of Fender Vintage ’66 Jazz Bass pickups, nut slot correction and refinement, minor fret level and polish, pickup height adjustment, action and intonation adjustment, and installation of new DR Pure Blues 45–105 strings.
Please inspect and test used/vintage items promptly upon delivery.

Professor’s Notes
This is one of the most impressive Fender Japan Jazz Basses we’ve had through the shop. Officially a JB-75 reissue, but with its alder body, rosewood fretboard, matching OLB headstock, 60s pickup spacing, and substantial-but-comfortable neck, it feels more like a late-60s custom-color Jazz Bass filtered through premium Japanese craftsmanship. The Fender Vintage ’66 pickups suit this instrument beautifully, delivering a balanced, authoritative Jazz Bass voice that feels immediately finished and mix-ready.
Description
Fender Japan produced some remarkably refined Jazz Basses during this era, and this Tokai-made example stands out even within that category. The uncommon Old Lake Placid Blue finish, matching headstock, bound rosewood fretboard, block inlays, and alder body give this bass a strong identity: classic Fender style, but with a smoother and more cohesive response than many ash-bodied JB-75 models. Although officially a JB-75 reissue, this example feels more aligned with a late-60s custom-color Jazz Bass than a typical 70s-style Jazz Bass.
The upgraded Fender Vintage ’66 pickups are an excellent match here, giving the bass a classic, record-ready Jazz Bass voice with clarity, warmth, and articulation. The neck has a substantial Vintage U profile that feels supportive without becoming oversized or clubby, and the full setup work gives the instrument the relaxed, confident feel that serious players immediately notice.
Original ashtray covers, original warranty card, adjustment tools, original pickups, and the original Fender gig bag are included. Please note: the original bridge pickup is currently non-functional.
