The neck shows no signs of warping or twisting, and the truss rod is in proper working condition with ample adjustment room in both directions. Frets show minimal wear. The original RYOGA gig bag is included.

A thorough multi-point inspection and professional setup have been completed including truss rod adjustment, fretboard conditioning, accurate intonation, pickup height adjustment, hardware inspection, and fresh strings. A new set of 10-46 roundwound strings has been installed. Setup preferences can be adjusted prior to shipping at no additional cost.

Professor’s Notes

The Hornet-H3/SP is the kind of guitar that makes familiar ingredients feel newly useful: mahogany warmth, hardtail snap, short-scale comfort, and just enough offset attitude to keep things interesting. Lightweight, lively, and direct, it has the rare quality of feeling clever without ever feeling overdesigned.

Description

Built in Japan by Fujigen for Shimamura Music’s RYOGA brand, the Hornet series remains one of the more interesting modern Japanese domestic-market designs of the last decade. Rather than functioning as a direct “copy” of a vintage platform, the Hornet combines familiar design language with a more ergonomic, player-focused approach.

The mahogany body keeps weight low while maintaining warmth and sustain, while the deep-set neck joint and thoughtful carve work provide excellent upper fret access and balance. A comfortable medium-profile neck, 12-inch radius, and high-quality fretwork make the guitar feel immediately familiar while still retaining its own identity.

Electronically, the RH-1 bridge humbucker delivers dynamic, articulate overdrive tones with strong clarity and response, while the RS-1 neck single coil provides tight low end and fast attack with excellent clean definition. Premium hardware and electronics including Gotoh tuners, Orange Drop capacitor, braided wiring, and Switchcraft jack complete an unusually refined overall package.
