Overview
The result of a fruitful collaboration between Kaminari Guitars and Shimamura Musical Instruments' brand History, the KH-Cygnet harmoniously blends classic design elements and specifications with modern innovation to create something fresh and inspired. Made at the renowned Fujigen factory and finished in a rare Apple Green Metallic, this model features premium appointments including 2-piece alder body, Gotoh hardware, a contoured heel for smooth upper fret access, and Fujigen’s proprietary Circle Fretting System (C.F.S.) for improved intonation and resonance.
The non-reverse Firebird inspired body is cloaked in thin layers of paint and polyurethane clearcoat, helping the instrument retain the natural resonance of the select alder wood. The bolt-on 1 piece maple neck retains a Gibson-like 24 ¾ inch scale length, 10-inch fretboard radius and C-profile (measurements above). The evenly grained rosewood fretboard is home to 22 expertly finished medium jumbo frets, offset pearloid sword tip fret markers, and wrapped in cream binding. The bespoke headstock is painted in matching Apple Green Metallic with 6-in-line vintage button head Kluson-style tuners from Gotoh. A Gotoh Tune-O-Matic bridge with bespoke tailpiece provides a solid anchor for the strings to the body. Milled from solid aluminum, the tailpiece is embedded into the body to ensure full transmission of string vibration and unique overtones. Artful, ergonomic, and built for serious players, this KH-Cygnet offers boutique-level quality without the boutique price tag.
Electronics and Tone
Outfitted with a matched pair of DiMarzio mini humbuckers, the KH-Cygnet delivers a bold and articulate voice—somewhere between traditional PAF warmth and crisp single-coil clarity. The neck pickup offers smooth mids and rounded highs for rich chordal work and expressive leads, while the bridge delivers punchy, focused attack without the shrillness of a standard Telecaster bridge pickup. In the middle position, the two blend seamlessly for complex, harmonically rich tones. Combined with the classic tonewood compliement of alder, maple and rosewood, this guitar balances full body and midrange complexity with bite and definition lacking harshness. US-made CTS 500k pots, 0.022μF Orange Drop capacitor and vintage-style cloth wiring complete the electronics package, ensuring transparent and reliable operation.
