Professor’s Notes

You can feel right away that this guitar has been thought through. The BG-SH feels quick, direct, and easy under your hands, but every note carries more weight and intent than you expect, like the instrument is already leaning into the part with you. It sounds “finished” right away, without needing to be worked into place, which is exactly why it’s hard to put down. At just 6 lbs 15 oz, it delivers snap, push, and authority without ever feeling heavy.

Description

The Greco BG-SH is part of Greco’s modern BG line—an original Greco design, not a copy and not a reissue built around a familiar American template. It draws from Greco’s earlier BG concept, but what you get here is a fully resolved modern platform rather than a throwback.

In hand, the BG-SH stands out for its immediacy, weight behind the note, and easy playability. It feels quick and direct, but never thin or overly sharp. Even at low action, it stays clean, lively, and inviting. The neck is a big part of that feel. The profile tracks more like an early-’60s Gibson-style carve than a typical Fender profile, with a vintage C shape that feels familiar, supportive, and easy to settle into.

The 24.75" scale adds a slightly denser, more grounded response, while the alder body, maple neck, and string-through hardtail keep the attack clear and the instrument responsive. With 2 volumes, 1 tone, and a 3-way switch, everything stays simple and musical.

The pickup set is also especially well judged. The neck pickup has the size and roundness of a great Fender-style single coil, but with plenty of cut and detail. The bridge humbucker is PAF-leaning in character, with good weight and urgency, but a touch more top-end presence than a darker vintage-style humbucker. Together, they make the BG-SH feel “finished” right away—clear, balanced, and ready to sit in a mix without much effort.
