T85 starts with the classic octave-down bass sound — then opens the door wider. Add upper octaves, deep subs, or a perfect fifth and suddenly one bass line can fill a lot more space. It can stay subtle and supportive, or turn a simple line into something wider, heavier, and more dimensional.

The Laney Black Country Customs T85 is a bass interval pedal built for players who want more than just a standard octave-down effect. Alongside the expected sub-octave weight, it adds selectable interval voices that can push a bass part into synth-like territory, harmonic layering, or larger, more dimensional lines.

The control layout is simple and useful:

• Direct blends in your original signal
• -1 Octave adds classic octave-down weight
• Interval brings in the selected harmony voice
• Focus shapes the character and response of the effected voices

The Interval switch provides three different harmonic options:

• +1 Octave
• -2 Octaves
• +5th

That combination makes the T85 more flexible than a typical bass octave pedal. It can cover classic sub support, modern synth-inspired textures, and more adventurous interval sounds while keeping the original bass note present and playable.

Laney built the T85 with fast, studio-quality pitch tracking so the effect responds quickly and stays musical under real playing conditions rather than falling apart when you dig in.

Professor’s Tips

• Classic sub bass: Bring up Direct and -1 Octave first, then use Focus to keep the low octave punchy and controlled.
• Huge low-end effect: Try the -2 Octaves interval setting blended carefully with the dry signal for oversized modern bass textures.
• More harmonic movement: Use the +5th or +1 Octave settings to build wider, more dimensional bass parts.
• Best results: Keep enough dry signal in the mix so the effect stays musical and the note remains clear.
