Memory Boy is for players who want classic analog delay with a little more control than a one-modulation-switch design provides. It keeps the warmth and musical feel of a traditional bucket-brigade delay, while adding modulation shaping and expression capability when you want to push things further. If you like the sound of analog delay but want room to experiment without stepping into full-feature complexity, this is a natural fit.

Description

The Electro-Harmonix Memory Boy delivers warm, musical analog delay based on classic bucket-brigade circuitry, with added flexibility for players who want more control over modulation and performance dynamics.

Delay time ranges up to approximately 550ms, covering everything from tight slapback to spacious repeats. The onboard modulation section allows you to shape the character of the repeats, from subtle movement to more pronounced texture, while the expression input provides real-time control over delay time or modulation rate during performance.

Placed in a finished rig, Memory Boy works well as a creative depth tool. It's capable of straightforward delay sounds when set conservatively, but also able to introduce movement and variation when the music calls for it. It is still fundamentally a simple analog delay, just with a bit more flexibility than entry-level designs.
