Professor’s Notes
Some mini chorus pedals feel like a convenience item. The CHO-mini feels warm, dimensional, and properly musical like a great chorus pedal should, with enough control to dial in width and motion without washing everything out. This is pro chorus tone in a compact format for players who want the sound, not the compromise.
Description
The Nobels CHO-mini takes the idea of a classic chorus and puts it into a compact, modern format without losing the qualities that make a chorus pedal worth using in the first place. You still get the warmth, movement, and dimensional spread players want from a proper chorus effect, but in a footprint that fits far more easily onto modern boards and working rigs.
At its core are three distinct modes. Chorus 1 captures that familiar smooth, musical, and instantly recognizable ’70s bucket-brigade-style chorus vibe. Chorus 2 offers a different stereo chorus flavor with a wider rate range, letting you push into more animated, almost vibrato-like textures. Flanging is not a traditional jet flanger, but a subtler comb-filter style modulation that feels more like a rare vintage chorus in its “flange” mode, rich, swirly, and musical without going over the top.
The CHO-mini also packs in tap tempo via the footswitch, so you can lock the modulation to the song’s pulse without extra fuss. Dedicated switches let you choose between mono or stereo operation and true or buffered bypass, making it easy to drop into almost any rig. Glow-in-the-dark pointer knobs, a simple three-knob layout, integrated Mounty-P plates, and a sturdy metal enclosure all reinforce the same idea: this is not just chorus in smaller packaging, but a compact chorus built to work like a real one.
Professor’s Tips
- Start with Mix low and Width moderate if you want supportive chorus that adds depth without overtaking the dry signal.
- Use Chorus 1 when you want the classic, familiar chorus role. Switch to Chorus 2 when the part needs more movement or a slightly more animated feel.
- The Flanging mode works best as texture, not spectacle. Think swirl and motion, not jet-plane effect.
- If you are running stereo, keep the Mix controlled and let the spread do the work.
