Professor’s Notes
Some compact overdrives feel like a compromise. The ODR-mini2 does not. It keeps the broad, musical Nobels voice intact — full, natural, and easy to place — with the kind of control that lets you shape the low end instead of fighting it. This is the ODR for players who want the sound to feel finished, but need it to fit cleanly into a smaller rig.
Description
The ODR-mini2 takes the core Nobels overdrive idea and puts it into a compact format without losing what made the original so enduring. You still get the natural, amp-like edge-of-breakup feel, the broad and musical response, and the sense that your guitar is staying connected to the amp rather than being filtered into a narrower version of itself.
This is the compact ODR, not a compromise piece, and not just the big pedal made smaller. It is the version for players who want the familiar Nobels warmth, width, and expressive feel in a format that fits cleanly on smaller boards and practical working rigs.
The Bass Cut control makes it easier to place with different guitars and amps, especially if your rig already carries plenty of low end. Paired with Nobels’ Spectrum control, it gives the ODR-mini2 more range than its size suggests. Add the upgraded metal enclosure, integrated Mounty-P plates, and 9V or 18V operation, and you have a compact ODR that is easy to live with on a real board.
Professor’s Tips
Use the ODR-mini2 when you want the classic Nobels width and feel, but your board space or rig layout rewards smaller, cleaner solutions.
If the pedal feels bigger in the lows than your rig needs, back in the Bass Cut a little rather than changing the core voice with the Spectrum control alone.
Try it as a low-gain foundation drive or always-on sweetener first. It is especially good at making a compact rig feel more complete without adding fuss.
Running the pedal at 18V can be worth trying if you want a little more headroom, openness, and dynamic clarity.
