Professor's Notes
The familiar depth and dimensionality of SUMO STOMP’s Short/Long Tail family, intelligently re-voiced for bass. The MINOTAUR adds just the right amount of aggression, breakup, and midrange snarl while keeping the low end full, tight, and firmly intact.

Condition
This effects pedal is in Excellent condition with few signs of prior use. This unit has been thoroughly cleaned and tested with a compatible power supply and 9v battery. All functions are operational with no issues. The original box is included.

Description
The SUMO STOMP MINOTAUR is a bass-focused interpretation of the company’s Long Tail #873, itself developed from an early three-digit K-pedal, serial #873. Rather than redesigning the basic character of the circuit, SUMO STOMP re-tuned its frequency response and output behavior specifically for bass.

The family resemblance to the Short Tail and Long Tail is immediately apparent: dimensional, articulate drive with excellent note definition and a strong sense of depth. In the MINOTAUR, however, the breakup is more restrained through much of the Gain range, adding push, texture, and aggression without overwhelming the fundamental. Turned fully up, it moves into a much more saturated drive while continuing to retain substantial low end.

The Treble control is particularly well suited to bass. Its effective range is voiced lower than on the guitar-oriented Long Tail, allowing it to shape not only brightness but also upper-mid presence, attack, and definition fantastic for both fingerstyle and pick playing. Increasing it can bring out push, snarl, and clank without simply thinning the sound, while lower settings retain a warmer, fuller response. Independent comparisons likewise describe the MINOTAUR as having a lower-shifted tone range than the original Centaur/Long Tail reference.

The Gain control retains the progressive response associated with the original circuit. Lower settings work especially well for adding body and harmonic texture, while the middle of the range produces a highly responsive, moderately driven bass sound. Higher settings add compression and increasingly obvious overdrive, with considerably more breakup available near maximum.

SUMO STOMP also reduces the available output compared with the Long Tail, making the MINOTAUR easier to integrate with bass and line-level equipment without the excessive level jump that can make a guitar-oriented Centaur circuit awkward in this application.

The result is not simply a guitar overdrive with extra bass response. It retains the character that makes SUMO STOMP’s K-style pedals special, but recalibrates the circuit around the frequencies, attack, and headroom that make sense for bass.

Controls: Output, Treble, Gain.
