Professor’s Notes
The ODD Box V1 is the drive you kick on when the song needs to snap into focus—more edge, more urgency, more “the amp is working,” without turning into fizzy chaos. The UK/US switch gives you two very different, equally excellent finished behaviors: one that bites and cuts, and one that pushes and breathes. If your rig is built to make music (not compare pedals), this one makes your decision easy.
Description
The Warm Audio ODD Box V1 is a hard-clipping overdrive built for that cranked-amp energy at sane volumes—tight attack, fast response, and enough structure to keep chords intact. It’s not a “transparent boost” story and it’s not a modern high-gain fuzz-out. It’s the sound of a great tube amp being pushed—bigger, more responsive, emotional, slightly dangerous.
The front panel keeps it simple: Volume, Gain, Tone, plus the UK/US voicing toggle. UK hits earlier and harder with more upper-mid bite and push—great when the guitar needs to cut and feel urgent. US gives you more headroom and a more open edge-of-breakup push—perfect when you want the amp’s identity to stay out front while the pedal adds motion and authority.
This is a “lands fast” overdrive. Set it for edge-of-breakup and it becomes a feel translator—your clean rig suddenly feels awake. Turn it up and it’s pure forward momentum: riffs, punk/alt rhythm, and leads that sit on top without turning spiky or thin.
Professor’s Tips
- ODD plays well with just about any amp: Whether your amp is clean, gritty, or already cooking, ODD stays punchy—set Gain for texture, then use Volume to push the amp if you want more bite.
- Use Tone like a mix control: If the band mix is dense, nudge it brighter until the guitar stops disappearing—then stop.
- Stacking: ODD after a lower-gain foundation drive = bigger chorus lift and tighter leads. ODD before another drive = more hair/urgency but less definition. In most finished-rig cases, ODD works best later as the escalation voice.
Quick Start
1) Edge-of-breakup (always-on feel)
- US mode
- Gain: 9–10 o’clock
- Tone: noon (adjust for your amp)
- Volume: unity or a tiny lift
2) Punk/alt rhythm (tight bite, fast attack)
- UK mode
- Gain: 1–2 o’clock
- Tone: 12–2 o’clock (until it cuts)
- Volume: slight boost over clean
3) Lead lift (present, not louder)
- UK mode
- Gain: noon–1 o’clock
- Tone: 1 o’clock
- Volume: raise until notes step forward without spiking overall level
